Bird Lamp

Home

There are a lot of little birds around MIT. My friend really likes these birds. What better way to celebrate her birthday than a programable glowing bird!

The body was modeled in Fusion 360 and 3D printed on a resin printer. The electronics are a Seeeduino Xiao and Adafruit neopixel ring. The main design goal was produce a simple and elegant design that was easily 3d-printable. To this end, I designed the bird in three pieces: The external shell, the electronics holder, and a small, internal cap for the power capacitor. The electronics and shell components are designed to snap together with small groves printed into the parts. The capacitor cover is intended to be glued in place.

Cool pics of the build process!
